Education and training are two of the most essential management prerequisites for any successful corporate entity. When it comes to a niche domain like insurance, the importance is all the more pronounced. While there are instruments to measure the extent of training imparted to the staff, is it just sufficient to accomplish the required quantum of training in letter?

The importance of the workforce being well-trained and educated for the overall success of a corporate entity needs no emphasis. This holds true for all organizations across the board, irrespective of the type of industry to which they belong.

When it comes to insurance, and especially in a market like India, the need to be well-trained assumes gigantic proportions. Another unique feature as regards insurance is that it is not merely sufficient to have a properly trained workforce; there is a need to spread the message of insurance among the populace. The above, to a great extent, is dependent on the knowledgeability of the distribution personnel on account of the interface that they are required to maintain with all the prospects. The best of advertisements and other forms of spreading the message would be no substitute for a job well done by the intermediary.

Considering the importance of proper training being imparted to the distribution personnel, the regulator has defined certain qualifications to be attained by them. This once again underlines the importance of sufficient training among the distribution personnel.
