Wealth management is a growing buzzword having its birth in the world of High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs). This article provides a primary observation of the global and domestic trend in wealth management.

The Indian stock markets are scaling new heights and the upward movement seems unstoppable. The capital market is at the peak of its performance and it makes investors happier than ever before, which eventually brings us to the simple understanding that it is the time to manage one's wealth before markets start taking reverse trends, some may call it the correction phase. If one focuses on the global trends of wealth creation both on an individual basis as well as on an institutional basis, the common observations only lead to a positive outlook that gives a clear picture about the expected robust wealth creation in the developed and the developing economies across the globe.

The last couple of years witnessed consistent economic growth across major parts of the country. In most of the developing markets, the moderate performance of the stock markets was offset by the rising oil prices and the surging demand in the commodities markets. Recovering from the economic slowdown in 2003, the markets were more in a stabilizing mode in 2004. During the year, the global interest rates were trading at historic lows that were coupled with the fastest growth in the GDP in the last two decades. Further, the market capitalization in the major stock exchanges increased at a consistent pace that primarily resulted from the stability in the market and the low cost of money.
