Abstract
The present study of Banks are based on CAMEL Methodology, which are categorized into
Public, Private and Foreign Banks.
Description
The Analyst Banking Special presents its seventh consecutive study of the
annual performances of Indian Banks. These banks have been categorized
into Public, Private and Foreign sectors. The
Analyst has adopted the world-renowned CAMEL methodology.
The model examines the efficiency of banks on these important parameters
like Capital Adequacy, Asset Quality, Management, Earnings Quality and
Liquidity.
The initial sample comprised 204 banks. However, the sample size
was reduced to 64 banks after excluding cooperative banks, non-scheduled
commercial banks followed by banks whose annual reports for the year
2009-10 were not available.
The data for the study has been secured from PROWESS, a corporate
database developed by the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE).
