"In scientific work, those who refuse to go beyond fact rarely get as far as fact."
–Thomas Huxley
The issue contains six research papers and a research note.
The first paper, "Evolution of Semantic Schema Matching as a Web Service", by
S Vasavi and L S S Reddy describes layer as a service called semantic
schema matching, which is initially designed for schema matching over diverse data
sources and later exposed as a web service. The paper also presents a road map for use
of this service by public clients.
P S Gill and Ashish Kr. Srivastava, in their paper, "Three-Pass
Cryptosystems Based on Discrete Logarithms", have proposed Three-Pass Crypto schemes
based on discrete logarithms. While the first two entail low computational
overheads, they are prone to attacks. On the other hand, despite additional overheads,
the third scheme is believed to be most secure against
attacks. The authors add that this scheme can be used for secure communication of highly
sensitive information, even on non-secure
channels.
The paper, "Underlying Dynamics of Carriers in the Study of Epidemic
Models", by Nistala Suresh Rao, Devanand and Peri Sarveswara Avadhani, traces the
growth of computer virus in a given population of computers, based on
Susceptible-Infected-Susceptible (SIS) model. This model is investigated taking into account
the role of carriers.
The paper, "Video-Based Person Authentication Using Face and Visual
Speech", by M Balasubramanian, S Palanivel and V Ramalingam, proposes an automatic
video-based person authentication system using face and visual speech
modalities. Facial and visual speech features have been extracted using the
multi-scale morphological operations.
The paper, "Querying the Distributed Multicolor Database", by R Seethalakshmi,
discusses the design issues like object databases and query databases, and
their implementation issues like multi-spectral database object retrieval.
The last paper, "Model for Color Analysis", by Dipti Shah describes how the
model helps domain experts in diverse area in studying various relationships
among different parameters in an image.
The research note, "A Note on Advancement of Tree", by Sanjay Kumar Pal,
Samar Sen Sarma and Anindya Jyoti Pal, brings out the evolution, development and
utilization of the tree concepts in Mathematics, Science and several fields of Engineering.
The authors have chronologically brought out the historical development of
the concept.
