In the present day of globalized business era, business enterprises worldwide have begun to embrace Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) both as a social responsibility and competitive business strategy. Human Resource (HR) leaders in the organizations are in the position to act as ‘change agents’ to bring about HR-related CSR policies and practices in the organization, for which they use Human Resource Management (HRM) as a driving force for competitive edge. This article, therefore, explores the strategic role of HRM professionals in undertaking CSR practices in the organization. Further, it suggests HRM to take a leading role in encouraging CSR practices at all levels in the organization for the long run.

 
 
 

The interest in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which recognizes that companies have obligations that extend beyond short-run profit maximization to include notions of social and environmental concern, has increased considerably in recent decades. The globalization of the world economy and the related trade liberalization has brought forward a discussion of the importance of business as an actor in the development of society.
