Value-based education is an education that imparts human values, ethical values
and spiritual values. Lack of these values is the root cause of unhappiness of
each one of us in the society. In this LPG era (Liberalization , Globalization , Privatization), industrial innovation leads one only to materialistic scientific objectivity, but there is also a need for value inputs into the process as it connotes a process of how one lives and relates to the world. Values are more focused on the individual’s development of self in relation to that which transcends everyday existence. It can help a person to open up to ideas and perceptions that might be unavailable otherwise. Avoiding the distractions of life can assist a person in focusing on one issue in order to gain a new understanding about it. Values also help people in being cooperative and collaborative with others when combining their efforts in a search for self-discovery. The inculcation of spiritual values benefits all, for it enhances one’s quality and better relationship as it focuses on unselfish thinking and behavior. In the LPG era, there is a need for each one of us to learn English as it has become a necessity. Globalization has brought the whole world to one common platform in terms of economics. This in turn has made it mandatory to learn English for a better career. Thus, one finds the need for inclusion of English Language in the curriculum, whether it is professional or non-professional course, in all the colleges and universities.
