This article spotlights the long journey of Indian women from being restricted to the four walls of their houses to the topmost positions in every field. It talks of their power and self belief with which they can rise, fly and break any barriers or cross any boundaries. Truly, they deserve their present status and are undoubtedly here to stay. The time is not far off when women will surpass men in every aspect. An entrepreneur could be defined as a dynamic agent of change, who is motivated to use resources and skills and to take risks to achieve results in a competitive market.

Gone are the days when Indian women were restricted to their household activities. There has been a drastic change as far as women and their attitudes are concerned in the last decade or so in India. Now, we have a number of women who are successful as business leaders and entrepreneurs. All those gender barriers are fast becoming a thing of the ugly past. Think female managers /leaders /entrepreneurs and many big names spring to mind-from the ICICI group comprising Chanda Kochhar, Lalita D Gupte and others to Kiran Majumdar Shaw, Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Indira Nooyi, Naina Lal Kidwai, Ekta Kapoor, Ranjana Kumar, Malika Srinivasan to name a few. It would be unfair not to remember the great names like late Indira Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Sarojini Naidu, Kalpana Chawla and others who have changed the way women were looked up to and treated in the society.
