• Only those companies which are listed on the BSE have been considered for this study.
• A total of 4,973 listed companies were identified.
• Out of these, only those companies which have declared their annual reports for FY2009-10 (April 1, 2009-March 31, 2010) at the time of the beginning of our analysis were considered; a few companies whose fiscal year ends on December 31 or June 30 or September 30 were also included.
• Out of this list, we filtered the top 500 companies on the basis of Net Sales.
• However, we have also considered other key parameters like operating margins, net profits, book value, EPS and returns to shareholders, among others so as to get a complete picture of the performances of the companies covered in our list.
