Gold is costing around $650 per ounce, near the highest in the past 25 years. With these new highs, an interesting thing has happened. A few years ago no one was convinced about buying gold but slowly bullion i.e., gold and silver buying has become a practice. The first opportunity is the simplest and the safest way to own gold. It is perfect for savings. Experts think it will grow steadily over the next decade and beyond. In short, every investor no matter how young or old should have some amount of gold. The second opportunity is a little more complicatedbut potentially more profitable. Take positions in the future market and square off as soon as the target profit is achieved or the loss is stopped. The third opportunity is the most difficult but has the best return potential. This involves identifying companies which are either involved in mining or owners of vast land and outsource extraction. The fourth type is investing in Gold Exchange Traded Funds (GETFs). With Sebi's clearance of Gold ETFs, they have now become a reality.

But the client must be made aware of the fact that speculating is not easy. Violent shakeouts may make one doubt their position on goldthis is what happened recently when the price came from over $700 to about $600. Clients must be coached to appreciate these shakeouts.
