Employers all over the world are concerned about increasing the productivity in their organizations but "Presenteeism" shatters the employers' dream of achieving maximum profit through productivity. This article explores in detail the reasons for presenteeism and how to win presenteeism.

Presenteeism speaks about an employee coming to the orga- nization with problems like coughing, sneezing, chronic back pain, etc. It is opposite to absenteeism, wherein an employee intentionally absents himself/herself from work. Cary Cooper coined the term `Presenteeism'. He is a Psychologist who teaches Organizational Management at Manchester University in the UK.

Productivity is a focal point of all the functional area managers consistently. It has become an everyday word. Craig stresses, "Since the Second World War, government, politicians, academicians and economists have all stressed the importance of productivity because of its relationship with the general economic health of a nation". When whole world is considering increasing productivity, certain factors like poor infrastructure, improper relationship and lower level of job satisfaction send a frightening call to corporate executives. Yet another factor hampers productivity and gives constant worry to managers is `Presenteeism'
