India can create more job opportunities through PPP model catering to rural healthcare.

Rural job generation can get the much-needed significant momentum only through a meaningful Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) push in development of key sectors. Only with such an approach, the vision of the 11th Five Year Plan (FYP) of an inclusive and sustainable economic growth will become attainable. Seventy percent of the Indian population resides in the rural area and employment generation in rural India is of crucial importance.

The Indian economy is today proud of driving a nation of the young. However, the last Economic Survey had warned that the demographic dividend could become a demographic nightmare if not addressed properly.

The major strength of PPPs is their ability to deliver value for money in public service procurement and operation. By utilizing the differing skills, resources and experience of each party, they allow the public and private sectors to complement each other—the public sector provides its expertise in identifying public needs, service requirements and desired outcomes and the private sector brings its capacity to effectively utilize assets and manage the construction and operation of services.
