Video resume, popularly known as `visume', is the digitalized version of the traditional A4 resume. It is a short video developed by the candidate showcasing his skills and experience for a job position, which is then uploaded on suitable job portals for prospective employers to view. Touted as the next generation resume wave, it gives the candidate a chance to get noticed by the employer much before the interview process.

A conventional biodata generally highlights the educational background, technical skills and work experience of the candidate. A video resume, on the other hand, is a short video clip in which the candidate presents his skills, qualifications and experience. It is a form of quick brand marketing to highlight the presentation skills, demeanor and overall personality of the candidate. Many job sites incorporate features to enable users to upload their videos.

The ancestry of video resumes dates back to the 1980s, when interviews were recorded on videos with the help of VHS tapes, which were then played back on the television. The digital revolution of the 1990s paved the way for the advent of multimedia and internet. Today, this potent combination has made it possible for a potential candidate to digitally record his own video highlighting his skills and relevant experience and upload it on any job portal for potential employers to view.
