This ever-changing world has made sustenance difficult. The continuous metamorphosis observed in the global economy, along with geo-political changes, calls for new approaches to address problems at all points in time. Only subject knowledge with a little application is no longer the only thing required for a professional to be successful. Also, an integrated and blended approach of subject know-how with soft skills is required to be successful. Prima facie, it appears easy for stakeholders involved in manpower grooming to churn out people who can be world-class. However, time and again, it has been proved that all successful nations, economies and companies succeeded only because of their right mix of knowledge pertaining to the core area and the softer part.

The professional world of learning has undergone a tremendous change. Gone are those days when the sectors, be it manufacturing or services, used to lay special emphasis on technical skill sets. Today the need is for a perfect blend of technical know-how and soft skills, which requires all training establishments to adopt these changes to make the perfect recipe for success. All stakeholders related to the grooming of talents, be it engineering, medical sciences, management or architecture, has felt the importance of soft skills and therefore, started to imbibe the same, both formally and informally. Two decades ago most of the engineering and technical institutes might not have even dreamt about incorporating personality development as one of the subjects for the budding engineers. The tried and tested model, i.e., the blended approach of domain knowledge along with soft skills, has therefore been the prescription of success for all employees.

Nurturing of talent is not the responsibility of an organization only. It encompasses all the stakeholders starting from the student or the employees, the trainers or the faculties, the employer or the organization, professional bodies and associations to have an integrated approach, finally culminating in the holistic development of skills in all the existing and prospective employees. They are referred to as stakeholders, as all these parties have their interest included directly or indirectly in the whole process.
