modern global business environment depends to a large extent
on information related to consumers and competitors, consumer
interests, economic growth rate, historical data of organizations
and market status for effective performance. Due to this desire
for information `data warehousing', a new database tool has
evolved. In this context, information technology has carved
a niche for itself in the organization. It has brought about
a revolution in the way an organization operates. This article
mainly discuses the stage by stage improvement of the data
warehousing architecture, which is based on the technological
and design requirements of the business environment.

Discovering
Undesirable Trade Practices in Indian Stock Exchanges Using
Data Mining Techniques

Undesirable
trade practices are one of the biggest challenges faced by
the Indian stock exchanges today. The `surveillance and monitoring'
system employed in stock exchanges is neither effective nor
efficient in detecting and preventing the prevalent unfair
and illegal trade transactions. This article discusses the
`surveillance and monitoring' system used in Indian stock
exchanges to identify market abuses, and its limitations.
Various insider trading systems that are used in the Amsterdam
Stock Exchange and NASDAQ are also studied here. The paper
proposes some data mining techniques and explains how the
techniques can discover the undesirable trade practices provailing
in the Indian stock exchanges.

Image
Mining in Natural Resources Management

With
the advent of image acquisition and rapid advances in storage
technology, there has been a tremendous growth in the significantly
large and detailed image databases. Rich information is treasured
in the data assemblage, which is potentially useful in a wide
range of applications and research. Image mining is more than
just an extension of data mining in the domain of image, which
can automatically extract semantic information from the image
data. The fundamental challenge in image mining is to determine
the manner in which the low-level pixel representation contained
in a raw image or an image sequence can be efficiently processed
to identify high-level spatial objects and relationships.
This paper presents the essentials of image mining and their
usage in the natural resource database management to facilitate
remote sensing applications.

This paper focuses on the models, tools and technologies of
DSS (Decision Support Systems). It also discusses about the
decisions taken at various levels of an organization. DSS
helps in making the organization more effective by giving
it a competitive advantage. It clearly offers the management
a powerful tool in meeting demands of managerial work. A new
aspect that is picking up in today's business is outsourcing,
wherein the role of DSS is explained in the paper.

Impact
of Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use and Perceived
Enjoyment on the Intention to Shop Online

This
paper explores the relationship between the three beliefs
about online shoppingperceived usefulness, perceived ease
of use, and perceived enjoymentand the intention to shop online.
A sample of 150 respondents was selected, using a purposive
sampling method, where the respondents were Internet users
in the survey. A structured, self-administered questionnaire
was used to elicit responses from these respondents. The findings
indicate that while perceived ease of use (b = 0.70, p<0.01)
and perceived enjoyment (b = 0.32, p<0.05) were positively
related to the intention to shop online, perceived usefulness
was not significantly related to the intention to shop online.
Furthermore, the perceived ease of use (b = 0.78, p<0.01)
was found to be a significant predictor of perceived usefulness.
This shows that ease of use and enjoyment are the two main
drivers of intention to shop online. Implications of the findings
for developers are further discussed in the paper.

Architecture
for New Generation CM Tools and its Validation

Configuration
management is a very important area of concentration in the
software development process. The authors have dealt with
the software architecture of the 2nd generation
configuration management tool and the CM services model. Looking
at the recent requirements of the CM tools and their problems
in this paper, a new architectural model has been proposed.
All the three models of architecture have been assessed on
the basis of requirements and their fulfillment, and a comparison
has been presented as the result of this research. Finally,
the validation review of these three architecture is reported
thus revealing the success of the proposed architecture, which
is found to satisfy the recent requirements, and overcome
the limitations of the earlier architectural designs.

Development
of a Real-time System in the Telecommunication Field Using
Unified Modeling Language

Real-time
UML (Unified Modeling Language) offers a set of extensions
to the UML, which is the basis for modeling real-time systems.
This paper focuses on the study of ESSAR for designing mobile
switching systems in the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication)
telecommunication field. Telecommunication systems are some
of the most challenging systems regarding size, complexity,
and real-time constraints. This paper describes the main constructs
used at ESSAR, which display a robust framework for building
real-time systems; and shows the mapping of the UML Real-time
system.

Applicability
of Business Rules in an Organizational Context

study of Business Process Management (BPM) has become a topic
of interest lately, especially for companies planning towards
IT-enabling/e-enabling their business processes for efficient
management decision-making abilities. The process of representing
the business transactional flow semantically and enabling
the availability of information for customers, partners and
vendors is called Business Process Management. In this paper,
the author essays BPM from a theoretical perspective: Defining
Business Process Management, Business Process and Business
Rule (the basic constituents of business processes); and analyzing
their practical applicability by taking real life examples.
However, the basic objective is to understand the concept
of business rule and the manner in which it can be made applicable
for enforcing management actions on a business process in
an organization. The need of the hour is the use of semantics
for making business rules more effective and meaningful.
