The rapid growth of publications on ChatGPT in education has underscored the necessity for innovative methodologies to analyze and present vast datasets in a concise, informative, and scholarly way. This study elucidates the trends and patterns within ChatGPT in literature, shedding light on past achievements and future directions. Leveraging data from the Scopus database, the analysis encompasses 201 publications focusing on ChatGPT in educational contexts. Employing bibliometric analysis facilitated by the open-source software RStudio, the study provides a comprehensive overview of the field. By distilling key insights from the vast body of literature, the study contributes significantly to the understanding of ChatGPT’s role in education. It unveils global research trends, identifies influential works and authors, delineates collaboration networks, and presents word cloud visualizations and citation analyses. Through this extensive bibliometric examination, the study not only summarizes existing literature but also delineates avenues for future research on the intersection of ChatGPT and education, thus enriching the scholarly discourse and collaboration in this burgeoning field.
