This study examines the application of Michael E Porter’s Generic Business Strategies and its impact on the key performance indicators of automobile companies in Pune, India. It includes seven automobile companies (OEMs) in the four-wheeler and two-wheeler segments. The study is based on qualitative and quantitative research, i.e., application of competitive business strategies and five-year key performance indicators. The study applies correlation, regression analysis and SEM, using IBM SPSS and SEM-PLS, and SMART PLS. The results show that there is a strong positive correlation between Porter’s Generic Strategy and companies’ key performance indicators (KPIs) and also amongst competitive business strategy and KPIs. The study will help academicians, policymakers, future researchers and OEMs to understand the impact of respective Generic Strategies on KPIs of the selected OEMs.
