Collaboration Issues Within the Military Aero Engine Industry
Abstract

Introduction

Whether it be the purchase of a new engine for an F-22 Raptor from Pratt & Whitney, based in Hartford, Connecticut, or the training of specialized technicians in postcolonial Pakistan during the 1950s, there is little doubt that a nation’s military institution has significant impacts on both society and the economy. Although difficult to evaluate in comparison to many traditional societal functions, there are still a number of positive economic and social impacts caused by the formation and operation of a military (Janowitz, 1964, p. 151).
