Promotion of education for sustainable development has been practised for years now, and many organizations have established action programs across the globe. We know that global issues like climate change need immediate and continuous action, for which society needs people who are well educated and literate, not only by acquiring educational qualifications, but also by gaining the knowledge with change in lifestyles and attitudes towards a better society at the domestic and global levels. This is necessitated by the inclusion of these topics in the curriculum as essential knowledge to be acquired. The role of higher education institutions (HEIs) is very vital in transforming this mode of education from a mere academic degree to strong knowledge of sustainable development of the country and globe, since it is our responsibility to present the globe with a pollution-free environment for our future generations.
