Identity Crisis and Wrath Against Imposed Identity in Selected Indian Poems in English
Abstract

Identity crisis is a psychosocial conflict that involves confusion about one’s social role. An individual or a social group may find an outlet for this experience of ‘identity crisis’ through various forms. Literature is popularly understood to be one of the creative and artistic platforms for the representation of human life and the society that we live in. Hence, it becomes pertinent to study how ‘identity crisis’ is depicted in literature and how it is dealt with by literary writers. This paper studies ‘identity crisis’ and the wrath expressed against this imposed identity in selected Indian English poems byVS Kumar, Kamala Das and Syed Amanuddin.
