People in any organization manifest themselves not only through individual sections but also through group interactions. When individuals come to the workplace, they come with not only technical skills, soft skills and knowledge but also with their personal feelings, perceptions, desires, motives, attitudes and values. Therefore, employee management in an organization means management of not only technical skills but also other factors of human resources. This paper outlines a conceptual framework of attitudes of employees and how attitudinal changes lead to satisfaction or dissatisfaction amongst employees. Negative attitudes of employees can affect the effectiveness of an organization to a considerable extent. It is a major concern for HR professionals to keep employees satisfied with their job. In this paper, the author suggests an analytical method to find out the sources of dissatisfaction and formulate ways to avoid them.
It is a well-known fact that organizational behavior is based on a few fundamental concepts, which revolve around the nature of people and organizations. Such, fundamental concepts are not peculiar to the field of Organizational Behavior (OB). Every discipline, be it a social science or a physical science, flourishes on definite assumptions. One of the basic assumptions distinct to the discipline of OB is that there are differences between individuals working in the same organizations. Thus, OB is the study of human behavior in organizations, the interface between human behavior and the organization, and the organization itself. Intrapersonal and interpersonal behaviors occur in organizations. Organizational structures have an impact on employee performance and satisfaction. Organizations are composed of individuals. Each individual is an island in himself, subject to particular motives, aspirations, perceptions and abilities. The behavior of each individual is influenced by several factors. Environmental factors, personal factors, organizational systems and resources, and psychological factors influence the behavior of each individual. The performance and individual development of an employee is based on the extent of influence of various factors on him. The type of job an individual holds has significant influence on his behavior. When an employee takes up a job in an organization, his behavior is influenced by various factors. He likes the job when he is satisfied with the conditions of the job. Attitude plays an important role in reflecting the satisfaction of the employee. |
