The aspect of societal interdependence has been one of the key factors in the evolution of the human race and all that we see around us today. Self-- sufficiency is a desired goal but never achieved in reality. Sureone can do it all but not as well as when many could it togetherthis is the primary premise for interaction, relationship and of course interdependency.
The concept of outsourcing dates back to mythological times. What could be possibly viewed as the very first outsourcing contract is the `deal' interaction between Hermit Vyasa and Lord Ganesha for transcribing the tacit and verbal narration of the Krishna avatar of Lord Vishnu into the explicit epic and voluminous Mahabharata. The contract was struck after a perfect understanding of the needs of the outsourced service seeker (Vyasa) and well comprehended capability of the service provider (Lord Ganesha).
Outsourcing has moved from being a limited activity in the past to all business activities (Refer Table 1). This is revealed in the fact that the growth of outsourcing has been happening at a faster rate than the growth of the faster growing economies. Does the line "Fools build houses, wise men stay in them" ring a bell somewhere?
