The introduction of advanced information and communication technologies has significantly enhanced the performance of supply chain management in organizations. The article examines the evolution of supply chain management in the PC industry and describes the best practices adopted by various companies in the present scenario.

The advent of the world wide web and the proliferation of data networking have opened up numerous opportunities for businesses to improve their processes and operating methods. In some industries, the changes have been so widespread that if a firm is not already embracing the new technology it may risk its businesses. Personal Computer (PC) manufacturing is an example of such an industry. In other industries as well, the impact of networking technology is being increasingly felt.

Given that SCM is a discipline common to majority of industries, the article examines a few common elements in the existing research and presents a general theoretical framework from a system perspective.
