Empowering is all about seeing a group of motivated people brought together with the same objectives.

The empowerment of your staff gives them much confidence and trust in you as a leader, manager, and their employer. It helps in the smooth flow of communication, thereby encouraging the employees to put forward their ideas. Moreover, it helps in building an ethically responsible organization, encouraging the employees to participate in decision-making, which is a necessity in today's business environment. When there is a constant pressure to develop new technologies, empowerment plays a critical role in enabling employees to take risks without any fear from the higher ups

Knowing the company's purpose, goals, and answers to the usual conflicts that arise in business, are critical. Most managers commit the mistake of failing to share information to their staff. They fail to share the vision, mission, direction, expectations, and customer philosophy of the company; these should be communicated to all.

Sharing one's vision will encourage people to think about and take on new challenges. A technique that works well is to include one's entire staff in creating the mission statement. Challenge them by asking the `whys' and `why-nots'. This forces continuous improvement from the part of the employees. Focus on internal and external customer needs while recognizing the market changes. Make problem solving and brainstorming common practices within the organization. Technology is fast moving and new techniques are needed; so look at trends, embrace change and be ready!
