Indian companies, in addition to their regular BPO activities, have slowly started focusing on knowledge or skill-based operations which in outsourcing terminology, is known as Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO).

A Healthcare Group located in Gurgaon sends its team of doctors to the UK and the Middle East for a week. They perform multiple operations and come back immediately. The patients' x-rays, scanning reports, and blood samples are sent to these doctors for further clinical diagnosis, medical tests and to monitor their progress. All these activities concerning patients located in a foreign country are being carried out from India.

One of the Fortune500 Companies located in the US is planning to acquire another global company. My friend, sitting in Hi-Tech City, Hyderabad, working for a global consulting and accounting firm, does the process of valuation, financial analysis and cost-benefit analysis for the deal.
