For the first time in last 20 years, the commodity markets or specifically the Commodity Research Bureau (CRB) Index has outperformed both the stock and bond markets. This is an important shift and very few investors are aware of this fundamental undercurrent that is taking place now!

Since the stock market in the US has risen considerably in the past few months, many believe that the bear market in stocks is behind us and good times are ahead. This type of thinking can be hazardous to your pocketbook, because in our view the stock market has very little upside left and the commodity sector is just beginning a secular bull market.

Having recently spoken at the Chicago Investment Conference, it was most enjoyable to listen to Jim Rogers (Investment Biker) speak of his last three-year trip around the world. His main emphasis was to buy raw materials. He explained that this sector has been neglected for so long that it is undervalued and needed by the growing demand of China.

Although Rogers favors the base metals over the precious metals, he still does have exposure to both gold and silver. My view is different; for Rogers and me, the most important metal for a high-tech world is silver. Nearly every electronic device needs silver to perform properly.
