Quality of education should be a high priority area in any country. With several technical institutions coming upbesides the IITs and NITsin India, there has been a phenomenal change in the perception of the objective of education. There is a continuous change in the educational system of our country. Today, at a time when the system is transforming itself to a framework that includes the models of autonomy and deemed university, the time is ripe to discuss whether the brand names in the educational sector are matured enough to take the challenges of the educational system. Various observations of the authors on the existing and expected maturity levels of various brands in the educational field are discussed in this article. The authors highlight the fact that quality depends on the effectiveness of the process of education, thereby highlighting the importance of `process maturity' rather than `people maturity', in order to establish a brand name in the educational sector of India.
India
has adopted liberalized and globalized economic strategy
long ago. This has also contributed to the higher and technical
education systems of our country being affected. In the
view of this, many global universities may come up in India
in the next few years. Hence, it is a relevant time for
all of us to think and compete at the international level.
Therefore, to prepare ourselves for the competence, we have
to think of autonomy-a step towards establishing a brand
name. The purpose of autonomy is to enable the educational
institute for global competitiveness. Autonomy expects organizational
commitment to take up the challenges posed by the international
educational institutes. This needs a great amount of maturity
at various levels of the organization.
High
levels of knowledge, competencies and skills are the basic
building blocks for active citizenship, employment and increased
social capital. In today's knowledge-based economy, both
our economic competitiveness and improvement in quality
of life depends on the effectiveness of our education
process. |
