Effective management of the self as well as the clients has become the crying need of the hour. Hence, factors such as interpersonal behavior, communication, presentation, business development, negotiation skills, client handling and client management, which were neglected to a great extent earlier, have now become indispensable for organizations. A recent research conducted by the Stanford Research Institute and Carnegie Mellon Foundation attests that the predominant ingredient of long-term job success is people skills.Soft skills become crucial, as one ascends the corporate ladder. Soft skills sets apart the winners from the also-rans. It has been corroborated that a workforce well-equipped with soft skills has a significant impact on their work output and quality. The clarity and determination which they exhibit while dealing with their business tasks, is also a remarkable upshot of the same.

Though there are no stipulated definitions for `Soft skills', the term in general can be regarded as on-the-job abilities that go further than an employee's job description. The ability to work effectively with associates, communicate with customers/clients, and manage assignments/projects, are a few areas where soft skills become an indispensable constituent of the corporate. "Soft skills are about projecting oneself and one's professional skills in the best possible way, and taking a holistic view of things. They are about how you interact with and react to others when you come into contact with them; they enable you to zero in on the most important point you want to make, but in an attractive and charming manner".
