Despite having a population of a billion plus, the shortage of skilled talent is becoming a major problem in India.

While the impact of avian in-fluenza on the poultry industry has been huge, there is another bug that has hit the corporate headquarters of many companies. And the bug is TDS. No, it's not Tax Deduction at Source that I am referring to. I am referring to Talent Deficiency Syndrome® (TDS), which is fast spreading; and the effect it can have on the overall industry will be many times more than we can even comprehend. The cell phones of HR managers are no longer ringing nor are their inboxes filled with resumes of job aspirants. Rather, the trend has reversed where the HR managers go out calling the aspirants and sending e-mails to the potential candidates. And while "the customer is king" stood true at least for marketers, the job aspirant has become the king for HR managers. HR managers and headhunters are scouting for talent like crazy, and doing almost anything and everything to overcome the Talent Deficiency Syndrome®.

Jump in salaries, preferred location, perks and incentives all are assured. If the aspirant fits the bill of the job in demand, there is no stopping in terms of what can be offered.

Imagine a situation where you got up on a fine Monday morning and as you were going through the pages of your newspaper you found to your surprise an ad-insert, which was your offer letter for your dream job. Can't believe it! Added to your surprise you also receive a telephone call from the same company, asking whether you are interested to join and before you could respond, your doorbell rings the pick-up car is there to take you for your first day at the office. Well, things couldn't get any better than this. You might be shocked at what I am asking you to imagine, but with the hunt for talent intensifying, the newer methods of job offers and recruitment might just be around the corner.
