Education gives the required skills, knowledge, reasoning and confidence to people. GATS is considered as a mechanism to provide freedom of education by remaining within the required barriers like accreditation restrictions, government monopolies, qualification restrictions, visa requirements, etc. Education is one of the least committed sectors. Out of 144, only 44 World Trade Organization (WTO) member-nations are committed to education and only 21 of these to higher education, namely: Australia, Czech Republic, Jamaica, Liechtenstein, Norway, Sierra Leone, Switzerland, Congo RP, European Union, Japan, Mexico, Panama, Slovak Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Costa Rica, Hungary, Lesotho, New Zealand, Poland, Slovenia and Turkey.
