As the economy is transforming from an agrarian economy to a knowledge economy, we need to upgrade our higher education system to suit the demand of the industry.

What is education? A parcel of books, or assortment of subjects? Not at all, it involves an interaction with people also. The 21st century poses several challenges and provides new opportunities for each and everyone of us. Today, India can no longer be considered as an agrarian economy only as it has now been transformed into an industrial and a knowledge-based economy. Bearing this significant change in mind, we need to upgrade our higher education system. Though we are still in the developing phase, India is close at heels to the developed nations in terms of its most valuable resource (asset) i.e., `human resource'. Only that we require to identify, build and mould the right caliber.

Industries (manufacturing or service), consider `human resource' as the most important input. It is quite easy to procure the Materials, Machines, Methods and Money (4Ms), and also hire men/women, but a difficulty arises in getting the `right choice', i.e., of a good `quality'. We talk about good quality products and services to satisfy our customers, but in order to produce quality products, we require `Quality Human Resource' too. This specifies the need for good quality Professional Managers.
