This study presents a scientific method of organizational survey for public sector. The study is based mainly on the primary data collected from employees with the help of a well-drafted, pre-tested, and structured questionnaire. It indicates that majority of the sample employees are in the middle age group who have sufficient experience of working with an organization. Education-wise, it is evident that a large number of employees are graduates and postgraduates. As far as employees experience is concerned, it is found that most sample employees have more than 20 years of experience, indicating that employees have longer attachment with their workplaces. Regarding the income description of the employees, working in the sample public sector organizations, it is discernible that there are no employees who have pay structure of less than 6,000. Besides, the paper draws attention on the factors influencing the job satisfaction level of the employees of the various public sector organizations.

For decades, researchers have been concerned with employee satisfaction and it has drawn the attention of managers in the organization. The success of any organization lies on its ability to build an environment where potential of every employee is realized and actively applied in realizing business objectives. In today's economy, the biggest task in front of any organization is to retain and satisfy its employees. A right way to satisfy an employee is to win his heart. However, there is confusion and debate among practitioners on the topic of employee attitudes and job satisfaction. So to be precise, we describe in brief what job satisfaction actually means. Job satisfaction is defined as positive affect of employees towards their job or job situations (Locke, 1976). In general, however, most researchers perceive job satisfaction as a general attitude rather than specific or actual (Jex, 2002). And is referred to as "one of the best researched concepts in work". Job satisfaction mediates the relationships between one individual worker with work conditions and organizations and individual outcomes. To access the level of satisfaction of employees, it is important to know exactly what matters most to them.

Natraj and Hafeez (1965), Sinha and Nair (1965), Ghosh and Shukla (1967), Rao (1970b), Vasudeva and Rajbir (1976), Nazir (1988), Bhatt (1992), and Vasagam (1997) found no relationship between age and job satisfaction. In contrast, Guha (1965) and Sinha and Agarwala (1971) found positive relationship between age and job satisfaction, while Sinha and Sharma (1962) and Narchal et al. (1984) found negative relationship between them.
