Customer Satisfaction in Canara Bank: Regression Analysis

The article aims to ascertain the level of satisfaction of customers in Canara Bank at Gobichettipalayam taluka in Erode district of Tamil Nadu. It highlights the bank's marketing strategies, measures the satisfaction levels of the customers and analyzes the role of individual components of marketing mix in the satisfaction of customers.

 
 
 

Banks have been designing products and selling them ever since they have been established. But, there is a sea change in the current situation. There is a drastic change in customer preferences. However, the existing products still do satisfy a segment of the market that has been accustomed to these products. Gobichettipalayam taluka consists of three blocks - Gobichettipalayam, Nambiyur and T N Palayam. There are 20 nationalized banks, 10 private sector banks and seven co-operative banks functioning in the taluka. Among the 20 nationalized banks, Canara Bank has seven branches viz., Gobichettipalayam (Gobichettipalayam block), Kolappalur, Gettiseviyur, Malayappalayam (Nambiyur block), Kasipalayam, Bangalowpudur and Kallippatti (T N Palayam block).

Accordingly, Gobichettipalayam branch from Gobichettipalayam Block, Kolappalur branch from Nambiyur Block and Kasipalayam branch from T N Palayam Block are selected for the study. A well-structured questionnaires both in English and Tamil is prepared and distributed to 1,000 bank customers of the three selected branches in the ratio of 4:3:3. Managers of the bank helped in distributing the questionnaires to the bank customers and within one month from the issue of questionnaire, more than 75% of them are collected.
