Financial Literacy and Investment Decisions: A Bibliometric Analysis
Abstract

This study thoroughly examines scholarly literature concerning financial literacy and investment decisions. For the bibliometric analysis, it employs biblioshiny and VOSviewer to create visual representations and map out the bibliographic content of 180 scholarly papers extracted from the Scopus database. Publication patterns, influential research studies, leading authors, prominent journals, the most productive countries, and also the emerging research themes within the research field are analyzed. The analysis identifies significant growth of around 67% in scholarly publications in recent years. It also analyzes bibliographic coupling among countries, revealing that India has the highest research output, followed by the US and Indonesia, in this research domain. Moreover, the bibliometric approach demonstrates that the future research focus is shifting towards themes such as financial risk tolerance, investment experience, financial knowledge, financial attitude, behavioral finance, and stock market dynamics. These emerging themes indicate developing trends and areas within the literature that require further exploration, thereby indicating potential areas for future research.
